DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. \u2014 A tragic rollover crash involving a side-by-side utility vehicle claimed the life of a Washington, Indiana man Thursday night and resulted in the arrest of the vehicle’s driver on a preliminary intoxication-related charge, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.<\/p>\n
Authorities identified the victim as 28-year-old Israel Waggoner of Washington. Waggoner died after becoming trapped beneath an overturned side-by-side vehicle during a crash on a rural roadway in Daviess County.<\/p>\n
According to investigators, deputies were dispatched at approximately 10:37 p.m. on June 18 after Daviess County Central Dispatch received reports of a rollover crash involving a side-by-side utility vehicle on County Road 450 South, west of County Road 50 West. The caller informed dispatchers that one person was trapped underneath the overturned vehicle, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel.<\/p>\n
Preliminary findings indicate that 31-year-old Miranda Knepp, also of Washington, was operating a white Polaris side-by-side westbound on County Road 450 South when the incident occurred. Investigators allege that Knepp swerved in an attempt to avoid an oncoming vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n
The maneuver reportedly caused the side-by-side to leave the roadway and overturn. During the rollover, Israel Waggoner became trapped beneath the vehicle and suffered critical injuries.
