Lexington County Stabbing Leaves One Dead, Suspect Charged with Murder

A tragic act of violence has left a young woman dead and another facing serious criminal charges following an early morning incident in the Gaston area of Lexington County.

According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded around 3:20 a.m. Friday to a home on Marshall Road after receiving reports of a stabbing. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered 22-year-old Gabrielle Marie Cribb lying in a hallway, while another desperately attempted to save her by applying pressure to her wounds.

Cribb, a resident of Lexington, had sustained multiple stab wounds. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where she underwent surgery. Despite efforts to save her life, she later died from her injuries.

Investigators have identified the suspect as 35-year-old Constance Michelle Lever, also of Lexington. Authorities allege that Lever returned to the residence hours after an earlier dispute, armed herself with a steak knife from the kitchen, and carried out the fatal attack. Witnesses told investigators that threats had been made earlier in the evening toward individuals inside the home.

Officials say the events leading up to the incident began earlier that night when Cribb and others visited a bar. An argument reportedly broke out, prompting the group to leave. What began as a dispute later escalated into a deadly confrontation inside the home.

Lever was taken into custody later that morning and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center at approximately 11:30 a.m. She now faces charges of murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Authorities have confirmed that she has been denied bond as the investigation continues.

The case remains under active investigation, and officials urge anyone with additional information to come forward. Meanwhile, the community mourns the loss of a young life taken far too soon, as family and friends remember Gabrielle Marie Cribb.
