Suspect Arrested After Pellet Gun Shooting in Frenchtown Township Community
Authorities in Frenchtown Township have taken a suspect into custody following a pellet gun shooting that left one injured at a local mobile home community.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, at Kimberly Estates, located near the intersection of Telegraph Road and Buhl Road. Deputies were dispatched to the area of Lauren and Huntington Drive after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a victim with a facial injury believed to have been caused by a pellet gun. Emergency responders provided assistance, and the individual’s condition has not been publicly detailed beyond the reported injury.
Investigators determined that the incident was not random, but rather stemmed from a dispute between individuals who were known to each other.
Approximately five hours later, Monroe County Central Dispatch received information that the suspect’s vehicle had been located within the same mobile home community. Deputies, along with the Michigan State Police, responded to a residence on Mark Drive.
Authorities reported that officers observed the suspect inside the home before he exited peacefully. He was taken into custody without incident, and the weapon believed to have been used—a pellet gun—was recovered and seized.
The suspect, identified as a 44-year-old man, has been lodged at the Monroe County Jail. Officials have indicated that his name is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
Law enforcement has not disclosed further details at this time, and the case remains under active investigation.
