In Loving Memory of Brandon Taylor Oetken

With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we come together to remember and honor the life of Brandon Taylor Oetken, a 38-year-old resident of Florence, Oregon, whose life was tragically taken in a devastating crash along Highway 126 in Lane County.

On the afternoon of May 3, 2026, a tragic chain of events unfolded involving multiple vehicles, forever changing the lives of those involved. According to the Oregon State Police, the crash occurred when a white Volvo 240, operated by Lorna Marie Trujillo, slowed to make a left turn into a mobile home park near Rose Hill Road. Behind her, Brandon was riding a green Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail motorcycle when it struck the rear of the vehicle, throwing him from his bike.

Moments later, a second rider, John Carlos Moreno, operating a white Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle, collided with the scene, losing control and sliding a significant distance before coming to a stop. In the midst of the chaos, Good Samaritans bravely stopped to render aid, showing compassion and humanity during a deeply distressing moment.

Despite the swift arrival of emergency responders, Brandon was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene. His passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire community.

John Carlos Moreno was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, where he continues to fight toward recovery. Lorna Marie Trujillo was also taken to the hospital as a precaution, reporting pain following the incident.

Brandon was more than the tragedy that took him—he was a son, a friend, and a valued member of his community. He will be remembered for the life he lived, the connections he built, and the memories he leaves behind in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

We also acknowledge all those impacted by this devastating incident, including the injured and the first responders from agencies such as Western Lane Fire and Rescue, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, Florence Police Department, the Lane County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the Oregon Department of Transportation, who worked tirelessly at the scene.

As loved ones navigate this unimaginable loss, we extend our deepest condolences and prayers. May they find comfort in one another, and may Brandon’s memory continue to live on through the love he shared.

May Brandon Taylor Oetken rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy never be forgotten.
