OWINGSVILLE, Ky. — With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, we remember and honor the life of Barbara Smith, a 60-year-old woman from Mount Sterling, Kentucky, whose life was tragically and suddenly taken on a Sunday morning following a motorcycle crash in Bath County.
Barbara’s passing came after her 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle left the roadway while traveling eastbound on Interstate 64 near mile marker 119 around 11 a.m. According to the Kentucky State Police, the motorcycle struck a rock embankment during the incident. Despite the swift and compassionate response of emergency personnel, Bath County Coroner Andrew Owens pronounced her deceased at the scene.
First responders, including Bath County Fire and EMS and the Bath County Sheriff’s Department, arrived quickly and worked with urgency and professionalism in the aftermath of the crash. Trooper Tanner Tout continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
