In Loving Memory of Jacques Bertheau: A Life Remembered After a Tragic Highway Crash
With deep sorrow, we remember Jacques Bertheau, a Massachusetts man whose life was tragically cut short following a serious highway crash in Connecticut.
According to the Connecticut State Police, the incident occurred last Tuesday shortly after 10:45 a.m. when Troopers from Troop “E” Montville were dispatched to the area south of Exit 18 on I-395 northbound in Norwich for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving serious injuries.
Investigators report that a green 2004 Nissan Xterra left the roadway for reasons still under investigation and collided with the Lawler Lane overpass on the right shoulder. The vehicle eventually came to an uncontrolled stop in the middle of I-395 northbound.
The driver, identified as 78-year-old Jacques Bertheau of Brockton, Massachusetts, was transported to William W. Backus Hospital with serious injuries. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced deceased.
His passing marks a heartbreaking loss for his family, friends, and all who knew him. Every life carries a story, and Jacques Bertheau’s life is remembered not only for how it ended, but for the years he lived, the relationships he built, and the moments he shared with those around him.
In the wake of this tragedy, the investigation remains active. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash camera footage or relevant information, to contact the Connecticut State Police Troop E Montville to assist in understanding what led to the crash.
As loved ones grieve this sudden loss, they are left holding memories that now carry even greater meaning. In times like this, remembrance becomes a way forward—honoring a life that mattered and ensuring it is never forgotten.
May Jacques Bertheau rest in peace, and may those who mourn him find comfort, strength, and healing in the days ahead.
