Kansas City Mourns Two Teenagers Lost in Separate Shootings

The evening of Sunday, April 19, became one of those moments in Kansas City, as two separate shootings claimed the lives of two teenage boys whose stories had only just begun.

Seventeen-year-old Demetrius Smith was found near 110th Terrace and Greenwood around 6:30 p.m. after being shot. Despite emergency response efforts, he was later pronounced deceased. About thirty minutes later, a second shooting occurred in the 7200 block of East 85th Terrace, where fifteen-year-old Cavazion Williams was critically injured and later died after being transported to the hospital.
