In Loving Memory of James Thomas Claggett
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, family, friends, and the Nanjemoy community mourn the tragic loss of James Thomas Claggett, whose life was cut short far too soon on June 15, 2026. At just 19 years old, James had so much life ahead of him—dreams to chase, memories to create, and a future filled with promise that will now remain forever unfulfilled.
The devastating accident occurred late Monday night along Maryland Route 224 near Wilson Landing Road, when two minibikes traveling in opposite directions collided head-on. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, James sadly succumbed to his injuries. A 16-year-old involved in the crash was also seriously injured, adding to the heartbreak surrounding this tragic event.
James will be remembered for the light he brought into the lives of those around him. His smile, his energy, and the kindness he shared so freely will never be forgotten. He was a son, a friend, and a young man whose presence made a difference in ways words can scarcely capture. Those who knew him will carry his memory in their hearts, holding onto the moments that made him so special.
As the community grieves this profound loss, we also lift up prayers and thoughts for the injured teen and all families affected by this tragedy. In times like these, the strength of love, unity, and remembrance becomes a source of comfort.
Though his time on earth was brief, James Thomas Claggett’s impact will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him.
May his soul rest in peace.
